“What do healthy fitness people buy when they shop?” “Are these the right foods to have in my cart?” “Should I try ______ or ______?”
Your endless wondering stops here!
Here are the foods we suggest always having on your grocery list:
GREENS Can you say phytonutrients!? Maybe not. And that’s okay. Keep greens on hand for smoothies, salads and tons of other healthy recipes.
HEARTY FRUIT If you’re constantly throwing out produce, start to buy fruits that last. Apples, oranges, pears, bananas and pineapple are some good choices.
SOMETHING PROBIOTIC Make sure to eat some probiotic-rich foods daily if you’re not into taking supplements, but still want to do everything you can do to be fit and healthy.
QUALITY MEATS “EAT MAD PROTEIN, BRO!” Hopefully you don’t hear this often, but buying some quality meats makes for a good protein sources in your overall diet.
FROZEN FRUIT Smoothies wouldn’t really be smoothies without some frozen fruit added in, right? Frozen strawberries and blueberries work really well as low-carb options, but we also like frozen pineapple, peaches, raspberries and cherries.
EGGS Whether you like to buy omega-3, organic, cage-free, extra large, duck or quail--keep ALL of the eggs in your basket. Get it? Eggs have a ton of nutrients and can round out any meal.
STARCHY CARBS To keep your energy levels steady and replenish your muscles after a tough workout, pick out a few of your favorites and rotate them. We like rice, sweet potatoes, quinoa, bananas and squash.
AVOCADOS Everyone loves avocados. No judgement if you’re not into them...
FRESH FISH If you’re not scared of mercury poisoning and can tolerate eating fish on a daily or weekly basis, go for it! Again, rotate the types of fish you buy and make sure to get a better quality if it’s available to you.
YOUR FAVORITE VEGGIES We are not picky when it comes to which vegetables to buy. If you’re new to eating green things, pick out your favorites and branch out when you’re ready. If you’re a seasoned vegetable eater, eat the rainbow in generous amounts.
